Maze Ball level one, a circular maze in cream and dark purple with a smiling yellow ball on the outer ring

About this game

Maze Ball is a puzzle toy built on one idea that takes about thirty seconds to click. You cannot move the ball. You can only spin the maze around it, and gravity always points down the screen rather than down the board, so the ball sits at the bottom of the circle no matter how far you turn.

That means going inwards is a matter of getting the ball to the top, where “down” happens to point at the centre. Spin steadily and the walls carry it around like a ferris wheel. Line a doorway up as it passes overhead and the ball drops through to the next ring. It is more physical than it sounds, and once the trick lands it stops feeling like a puzzle and starts feeling like a toy.

Built to reward you constantly

The game gives you something every few seconds rather than only at the end of a level. Every ring you drop through fires a sparkle burst, a shockwave out of the ring you just cleared, a haptic tap and a pop whose pitch climbs the closer you get to the hole, so the sound alone tells you that you are winning. Finishing a level brings a gold flash, roughly 120 pieces of confetti in two waves, a fanfare and a praise word sized to fill the screen. Back-to-back clears escalate all of it. The next level then starts on its own after a moment, because a dialog is a speed bump between one win and the next.

The levels are generated and proven

All 24 levels come out of a seeded maze generator, so the same seeds always produce the same mazes. Cells are only subdivided while the resulting doorway stays at least 1.4 times the ball’s width, a separate checker re-derives solvability from the final geometry rather than trusting the generator, and a bot plays every level before release to prove that gravity plus rotation can actually walk the path. Progress is saved in your own browser. There is no backend, no account and no analytics.

How to play Maze Ball

  1. Drag left or right anywhere on the board, or hold the left and right arrow keys. The maze turns, the ball does not.
  2. Gravity always points down the screen, so to move the ball inwards you have to carry it to the top, where down points at the centre.
  3. Line a doorway up as it passes overhead and the ball drops to the next ring. Clear 24 levels, then keep going in Endless.
